The new colour camera with an 8.3 megapixel CCD sensor: The Nightscape 8300 is Celestron's new high-end 'single shot' colour CCD camera
After the huge success of its predecessor, Celestron now provides a sophisticated camera for deep sky astrophotography with the tried-and-tested Kodak KAF 8300C chip - at an affordable price and featuring easy operation.
- colour fidelity: Kodak's KAF 8300 colour sensor offers high light sensitivity distributed evenly across the spectrum allowing you to expose true colour images in a fraction of the time that would be necessary using a filter wheel and colour filters: No filter wheel or colour merging is required!
- cooling: Controlled cooling (Regulated Thermoelectric Cooling - TEC) and adjustable fan control ensure a smooth and uniform airflow, greatly reducing the thermal noise typical in image sensors.
- build factor: The compact four-inch housing ensures minimal obstruction - always desirable in F2 photography. The round, symmetrical aluminium housing is similar to the secondary mirror obstruction of a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and provides round star images with minimal light scattering. In addition, the distance from the sensor is the same as for most DSLR cameras, meaning no additional T2 adapter is required.
- full control with AstroFX: Celestron's AstroFX software, included in delivery, takes you through every step of image acquisition and processing and right up to the finished result. AstroFX also lets you control all the settings on your camera manually - from temperature and exposure settings up to computer-assisted focusing. AstroFX knows how to process your images and dark frames to easily build up an overlayed, sharpened and processed image which you will be proud to show your friends.
Nightscape cameras have been optimally configured to match the optical design of Celestron's new EdgeHD telescopes, but can also provide top results with any other telescope.
